It was so nice to breath the sea air and enjoy the atmosphere at the coves.
Somewhere in my photos, I have a picture of me when I was about 17 years old in this same area.
When I was a kid, there were no Sea Lions. In Fact, we saw very little animal life.
I do remember an Abalone that I walked up on and it looked like an alien and freaked me out! It was not stuck to the rock in the normal way but the mussel that sticks it to the rock was exposed. We took the Abalone back to Uncle Ralph and he cooked it up for us. The pelicans are much more numerous now than they were back when we were kids. In Fact, I don't remember seeing pelicans back in those days. Did we see pelicans then?
It was fun to crawl around in those caves after so many years!
Right out from that opening is where we found the Abalone during a lower tide!
Another view of where we found the Abalone.
This is a photo the day we found the abalone.
We spent many joyful times as a family in this cove!
I was always secretly afraid of the sea life that we saw at the coves. That fright must have built in me a level of intrigue that wasn't fulfilled, that set me up for my desire to scuba dive and eventually led us to Guam.
I still believe that La Jolla Cove must be a portal to heaven.
When Trevor was small, we took him here and Denalee found a gold bracelet digging in the sand. What year would that have been? Mom and Dad: add some photos of us when we were young at L.C.'s.
